Covanta Onondaga and the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) partnered for a mercury drop-off event where participating residents received a Lowe’s gift card worth $10 when they turned in mercury-containing thermostats or thermometers.
The partners offer a year-round mercury drop-off program where participants receive a $5 gift card for dropping off mercury thermometers and thermostats. Residents dropping off a mercury-containing thermometer also receive a mercury-free digital thermometer!
The Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency oversees what happens to the waste and recycling from Onondaga County communities. They’ve been working to keep neighborhoods clean and healthy since 1990.
