Covanta Announced as 2024 CIO 100 Award Winner

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Foundry’s CIO has named Covanta, a leader in sustainable solutions, as a 2024 CIO 100 award winner for its Fire Threat Mitigation Assessment Tool.
Following a critical incident at Covanta’s Miami-Dade facility in Doral, Fla., Covanta developed an innovative AI-based Fire Threat Assessment Tool. This tool assesses events, responses and outcomes using both structured and unstructured data, providing a comprehensive risk assessment. It also presents a user-friendly interface with a green/yellow/red gauge, reminiscent of the iconic Smokey the Bear signs, offering clear and actionable insights. Covanta's tool is expected to be in full production for facilities by April 2024.
