Meadowbrook Elementary School in East Meadow, NY is buzzing with excitement about the new garden club sponsored by Covanta. From the specially made lighted racks and seed starter kits to the amazing four raised garden beds with drip irrigation that were all built at Covanta, the project has set the tone in Nassau County for encouraging our youth to get involved in this healthy activity.
Gardening builds a sense of confidence and develops STEM and analytical abilities. It also positively impacts mood and social well-being to relieve anxiety. We're excited to empower the youth in our community to embrace nature and enhance their holistic growth by allowing them to experience the gratification of cultivating their own food!
The enthusiasm for this project has spread to other local schools, who have already talked to Covanta about starting their own gardens!
