Helping to Clean up Long Island’s Waterways

November 18, 2020

Covanta Long Island Operation SPLASH

Covanta’s Long Island facilities sponsored their very own a boat as part of Operation SPLASH, an organization dedicated to maintaining Long Island’s waterways.

The boat will be used alongside others to directly improve conditions in local waterways, patrolling and removing garbage and other debris from the water and shoreline. Operation SPLASH works to both reduce and prevent pollution of Long Island’s waterways. SPLASH facilitates installation of street-level storm drain inserts to prevent waste from reaching natural environments, sponsors its own education programs, and collects thousands of pounds of trash every year.
