The first ever Green Star Outreach awards were recently handed out to deserving Covanta facilities and employees! The Green Star Awards recognize Covanta facilities and employees for exemplary efforts to educate and support our local communities and organizations. Covanta Essex was a recipient of the inaugural Green Star award for Educational Outreach.
Led by Asset Manager Jack Bernardino (far left with other Essex employees), the facility partnered with the Go Green Initiative and the Newark Public Schools to help every public school in the city earn Sustainable Jersey for Schools Bronze Certification status! This award highlights energy savings, improved recycling efforts and pollution reductions made possible in part by Covanta’s support. The Essex facility also gave presentations at local universities to raise awareness of Covanta’s environmental leadership!
