Cedar Rapids Grand Opening of its New State-of-the-Art Solidification Building

The Cedar Rapids MPF (Cedar Rapids, IA) celebrated the Grand Opening of its new state-of-the-art solidification building. The 20,000 square-foot building houses four solidification pits, a smart-drive shredder, three docks and plenty of containerized storage space. 

This operation will greatly improve processing for materials bound for Waste-to-Energy facilities or landfills, or wastewater targeted for liquid direct injection. Additionally, it will increase the types of materials the site can handle from our growing client base. Safety will be improved while throughput will be almost doubled. 

The grand opening was well attended by local agencies and clients as well as the Midwest leadership team. This project was a real team effort driven by Pat Wheaton, manager for Covanta Special Projects.
