Reducing Landfill Waste
Located in Oahu, Hawaii, the Honolulu Program of Waste Energy Recovery (H-POWER), is an award-winning Waste-to-Energy Facility. The Facility is owned by the City and County of Honolulu and serves the more than 950,000 residents as well as over six million visitors to the island each year with reliable and sustainable waste management.
In 2012, we completed a 900-ton-per-day expansion to enable the facility to process 85 percent of Oahu’s post-recycled municipal solid waste and supply up to 10 percent of the island’s electricity needs.
In addition to keeping waste out of landfills, we’re committed to ensuring safe operations and minimizing environmental impacts. We have been consistently recognized for exceptional operations, including OSHA’s stringent Voluntary Protection Program Star certification.
