Covanta Named Finalist for NJBIZ “Business of the Year” Award

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Covanta, a world leader in sustainable waste and energy solutions, has been selected as a finalist for NJBIZ’s 2018 Business of the Year awards in the Corporate Citizen of the Year category.

Headquartered in Morristown, NJ with four Energy-from-Waste facilities in the state, Covanta has a 30-plus-year history of making a positive impact in the communities in which its employees live and work. The company works with a variety of state, regional and local organizations to address issues of importance to New Jersey residents such as responsible waste disposal, preservation of the environment, clean energy generation and the perpetuation of strong, vibrant communities.

Some of Covanta’s recent community outreach activities include:

  • Instituting a recycling program in Camden, NJ schools;
  • Providing safe and secure destruction of unwanted prescription drugs to NJ communities, protecting water supplies and keeps drugs out of the wrong hands;
  • Managing the collection and safe disposal of over 10,000 pounds of electronic waste through community events in Newark, NJ;
  • Supporting the important work of the Community Soup Kitchen & Outreach Center in Morristown with food drives and donations.
