Covanta Onondaga hosted a tour by students from Syracuse University’s School of Architecture. The students sought a better understanding of the Waste-to-Energy process to help with a seminar they are leading focused on sustainable architecture and infrastructure.
Helping a Shelter
The Covanta Onondaga facility made a donation to the Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter, a local non-profit animal shelter. All money donated to the organization goes toward caring for shelter dogs and finding them new homes, as well as teaching inmates from a local jail how to train the dogs.
Boy Scout Clean-Up
Covanta Onondaga worked with more than 20 Boy Scouts from Pack 22 in Jamesville, NY, on a road clean-up. The group collected more than 1,300 pounds of trash, and the clean-up also helped educate the public on sustainable waste management.

Covanta Onondaga employees along with the Jamesville Boy Scout Troop cleaned up Rock Cut Road and the facility’s grounds. The clean-up removed over 1,300 pounds of litter. The facility also educated the group on sustainable waste management.
