Retiring American Flags at Covanta Niagara
Covanta Niagara partnered with Monroe County in New York to decommission 1.19 tons of retired U.S. flags in accordance with the United States Flag Code, Title 4, Section 8k. These flags completed their service by being converted into a renewable energy source for the local community.
Covanta Niagara Fishing for Energy
Covanta Niagara teamed up with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to help keep local waterways clear through the Fishing for Energy program. To date, the plant has converted about 450 pounds worth of derelict fishing gear into energy.
Niagara Aids Habitat for Humanity
