Covanta Huntsville (Huntsville, AL) hosted a tour for teachers participating in a workshop organized by the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District. The teachers visited the facility to learn about waste-to-energy as part of the district’s three-day session for environmental educators.
Covanta Huntsville Tree Planting
Covanta Huntsville facility employees and their family members joined Huntsville’s Mayor Tommy Battle for a spring tree planting event. The group planted dozens of trees in John Hunt Park, located about a mile from the facility.
Covanta Huntsville Cleanups
Covanta Huntsville employees took an hour on March 24th to walk and pick up litter along the facility’s Adopt-A-Mile section of a local street. The program keeps streets free of litter and helps keep Huntsville beautiful!
Tree Planting
Covanta Huntsville employees joined the city’s mayor, Tommy Battle, and the Huntsville Green Team to plant trees at John Hunt Park. The group planted 350 trees, taking advantage of autumn being the best time to plant trees in the South.
Roadway Cleanup
Covanta Huntsville employees picked up trash from alongside local roadways as part of the facility’s Adopt-A-Mile pledge. The cleanup effort extended beyond the facility’s adopted stretch of roadway as Covanta Huntsville continues to make a difference in the local community.
Huntsville Earth Day
The Covanta Huntsville facility employees picked up 19 bags of trash along the facility’s “adopted” mile of roadway. The section of Patton Road in Huntsville is located near the facility.
Earth Day Fair
Covanta Huntsville participated in an Earth Day event at Hays Nature Preserve that attracted thousands of folks on a beautiful spring day. Covanta’s hand-stamped and painted Earth charms were the hit of the day.
Retiring American Flags
Covanta Huntsville provided reverent disposal for more than 300 retired American flags. The Huntsville Activity Team partnered with a local American Legion post to collect the flags and prepare them for disposal.
Helping Tornado Victims
