The first ever Green Star Outreach awards were recently handed out to deserving Covanta facilities and employees! The Green Star Awards recognize Covanta facilities and employees for exemplary efforts to educate and support our local communities and organizations. Long Island Community Relations Specialist, Maureen Early (below) was a recipient of the inaugural Green Star award for Individual Achievement.
While maintaining several long-running programs including the American flag retirement effort, Long Island Community Relations Specialist Maureen Early (left) pivoted quickly when the pandemic struck last March. She immediately switched to providing virtual tours of the Hempstead facility and kicked off a robust program to address local food insecurity. Maureen also helped keep Covanta visible in the local community, participating in local parades with a vehicle wrapped with a message to honor veterans and frontline workers.
