The Covanta Hempstead facility also hosted Nassau County Legislator Thomas McKevitt for an informative presentation and facility tour. A lifelong resident of Nassau County whose district is adjacent to the facility, Legislator McKevitt is quite familiar with the history of the plant, and was impressed to see the operation first-hand.
