The first ever Green Star Outreach awards were recently handed out to deserving Covanta facilities and employees! The Green Star Awards recognize Covanta facilities and employees for exemplary efforts to educate and support our local communities and organizations. Covanta Camden was a recipient of the inaugural Green Star award for Community Interaction.
Led by Facility Manager Todd Frace, employees went to work last year to engage directly with community members. After one woman spoke out at a community meeting, Todd sought her out to talk. Learning of her concerns about vacant lots in Camden, Todd rallied staff and contractors to clean up and landscape several of these lots, including the one in the photo above. This has encouraged open dialogue and is sure to lead to opportunities for even more community-building projects!
