Covanta Harrisburg provided supplies, including wheelbarrows, trash grabbers, gloves and trash bags, to assist with trash cleanups as part of a citywide initiative to beautify the Harrisburg community. Company employees also took part in the campaign. “Hot Spot Saturdays” is an effort created by Harrisburg City Council member Ralph Rodriguez in partnership with the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA). The campaign targeted different areas of the city on selected dates through the summer, and clean-up locations spanned several neighborhoods including areas in Uptown, South Harrisburg and Allison Hill. All acceptable waste collected was disposed of at the LCSWMA Susquehanna Resource Management Complex located in Harrisburg and operated by Covanta.
