Covanta MacArthur

The MacArthur Energy-from-Waste facility, operating as Covanta MacArthur, began commercial operations in March 1990 under an agreement with the Islip Resource Recovery Agency. The 15.5-acre facility in Ronkonkoma, NY, processes 485 tons per day of municipal solid waste, generating up to 12 megawatts (MW) of renewable electricity - enough to power 12,000 Long Island homes. This facility also recovers and recycles 5,500 tons of ferrous (steel) metals annually.

McNeil wet SDA, Norit carbon injection, Brandt reverse air baghouse, CEMS equipment including Land Opacity monitors and MIR9000 multigas monitors by Environment SA

O’Connor Combustor, Deltak Boiler

Energy Generation:

12 megawatts of electricity
