The Covanta Camden Energy Recovery Center is a mass burn facility in Camden, NJ, and serves Camden County in the southern part of the state. This 18-acre facility began commercial operation in July 1991, and was acquired by Covanta in August 2013. The facility runs three boilers, processing approximately 1,050 tons of solid waste each day and producing a net output of 21 megawatts.
Project Medicine Drop
Covanta Camden, along with our other NJ facilities, has partnered with the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs for Project Medicine Drop. This program provides secure drop boxes at police departments across the state so citizens can dispose of prescription drugs anonymously. Covanta destroys these medications throughout New Jersey at no cost to taxpayers or participating police departments.
